Share a Miyoo Mini Plus: Pokémon saves in Onion Guest Mode

Guest Mode offers a separate Onion profile. Check which profile is active before letting someone begin a new adventure or investigating missing progress.

Decide what the second player should receive

For two independent adventures, keep the same game build and let each player use their own profile. For a friend who wants to continue your adventure, first decide whether changes to your progress are acceptable. These are different handovers: a separate profile is useful for the first, but does not itself transfer a particular trainer to the second.

Before making file changes, agree on a simple rule: the lender checks the active profile, and the borrower checks the trainer shown by Continue. Neither person should infer ownership from the game cover or a familiar location. Two players can reach the same town and still have different teams, items and story flags.

Enable it through Onion's app

Open Apps and run Guest Mode. The documentation says its icon changes to indicate the current state. Check that indicator before opening the game, and check it again when returning to your own session.

Onion's Guest Mode page describes the profile contents. GameSwitcher, history and other profile-specific lists can also differ. Inspect the active profile's saves before moving files.

Verify both profiles before sharing

  1. Back up established progress. In your normal profile, open the intended game through Continue and record team, location and game build.
  2. Close normally and enable Guest Mode. Check the indicator before launching that same game.
  3. Inspect the guest session without overwriting your established progress. Where appropriate, create disposable guest progress and save inside the game.
  4. Close normally, return to your original profile and verify Continue again.
  5. Return to Guest Mode and check that its own progress reopens as expected.

Keep the independent backup regardless of the result; a second profile on the same card is not protection from card failure.

Worked example: two trainers in the same game

Illustrative handover, not a device test

The owner records trainer ALEX, three badges and a party containing a particular starter. The guest begins as SAM and makes an in-game save near the beginning. These names and milestones are examples; choose identifiers from your own adventures.

  1. With Guest Mode disabled, launch the game and inspect Continue. Check ALEX's trainer details and team.
  2. Exit normally. Toggle Guest Mode in Apps and confirm its current-state icon.
  3. Launch the same game build. Inspect the guest's Continue or begin the agreed disposable adventure. Confirm SAM's identity before writing progress.
  4. After SAM saves and closes, return to the owner profile. Check ALEX again through Continue.
  5. Repeat the return to SAM. If either result is unexpected, stop the handover and identify the profile and loaded progress before another save.

The useful result is two independently recognizable Continue screens. Merely seeing two different scenes is weaker evidence: one could be an older resumed session. For a confusing result, follow the GameSwitcher guide to separate the resume path from an in-game save.

Why controls or the picture can differ

Because Onion separates remaps, core options and scaling by profile, check the active profile before trying to copy your usual settings onto a guest session. Verify movement, confirm, cancel and readable text for the person using it.

Use the scaling guide or fast-forward controls if a setting needs deliberate adjustment. Record the old mapping before changing it.

Make a handover easy to recognize

Before lending the handheld, write down the active profile, game build, trainer name and last confirmed location. Ask the next player to check those details before using Save. A familiar game image can look alike across two adventures.

Use the GameSwitcher guide to distinguish a recent-session entry from the cartridge save. If the guest only wants to try controls, use disposable progress and verify your original Continue again when the device returns.

Keep an independent backup outside the card. A second profile is useful separation within Onion, while a backup preserves a copy you can inspect if the card or setup later fails.

Sharing questions

Why did the GameSwitcher list change?

Onion documents profile-specific history and a corresponding GameSwitcher list. Check the profile before treating a missing recent entry as missing game data.

Can both players use different button layouts?

Guest Mode separates remapping layouts. Check both players' movement, confirm and cancel actions independently; do not assume the owner's preferred layout suits the guest.

Does Guest Mode provide several named player accounts?

This guide covers the documented owner/guest arrangement. It does not establish support for an arbitrary collection of named accounts. Use the documented owner/guest arrangement.

Is this a password-protected account?

The referenced documentation describes profile separation, not an access-control guarantee. Use it to organize play, and do not treat it as protection for sensitive files.

If your Pokémon save seems missing

Check the Guest Mode indicator first. Then identify the exact game file, build, core and whether you resumed a state or selected Continue. Avoid creating a new save over the only readable progress while investigating.

Use the Onion save checklist after confirming the profile. If you changed the game version as well, check its maker's save rules separately. Use the maker's save rules when changing releases.
